Collars here fit 6–36 inch necks. Measure the neck, not the old collar.

Handmade dog collars made to order in Oxfordshire, paracord, BioThane®, rope, premium leather and British wool. Every collar is made to your dog's exact neck measurement, not an approximation from a size chart.
Customisable by colour, hardware and size. Available for all breeds and neck sizes including sighthounds. Backed by Green Dog's twelve-month hardware guarantee and Perfect Fit Guarantee.
Perfect Fit means what it says: if a collar does not fit your dog, tell me and I will adjust or remake it at no cost to you. A collar made to your own measurement sits outside the 14-day cancellation right, while a preset edition bought as shown carries a full 30 days, both of which are set out on the returns page.
Start somewhere narrower
If you already know what you are after, these pages are more specific than this one.
- Waterproof dog collars, BioThane, for dogs that swim and roll in things
- Sighthound collars, whippets, lurchers, greyhounds and Italian greyhounds
- Small dog and dachshund collars, 6mm rope and scaled fittings
- Personalised dog collars, you choose the colours, fittings and size
- British wool dog collars, hand-woven, from The Sheep Shed
- Woven cotton collars, from the Cotton Mill, on veg-tanned leather with a bone tassel
- Leather dog collars, veg-tanned, with solid brass
- Greenwich Yarn collars, hand-whipped rope
- Slip collars and training leads, slip or figure of 8
Two of those ranges run to leads as well, so a collar and lead can be built at the same bench in the same material: the whole Sheep Shed in British wool, and the whole Greenwich Yarn collection in hand-bound rope. If you would rather read why I chose each material before you pick one, the designer collars page sets that out at length.
Frequently asked questions
What materials does Green Dog use for dog collars?
Six core materials: paracord, rope, Greenwich Yarn, BioThane, British wool and vegetable-tanned leather. Each has different strengths, the customiser and the collection sub-pages help match material to dog and walking style.
How do I choose the right dog collar material?
Daily walkers and water dogs do best in BioThane (wipe-clean, waterproof). Active dogs with style preferences suit paracord or Greenwich Yarn rope. Dogs with sensitive skin do best in British wool. Working and country dogs suit leather. The collar guide blog post walks through the decision in more detail.
Are all Green Dog collars made to order?
Yes. I am a one-maker studio, so every collar is cut, finished and hardware-fitted after you order. Dispatch is 2 to 6 working days. There is no pre-made stock to clear, every piece is built for the dog who ordered it.
What hardware finishes can I choose?
The D-rings, buckles and sliders on a Green Dog collar are your choice of finish: solid brass, nickel-plated, black or gun-metal. Solid brass is solid all the way through; the nickel finish is a plated layer over brass, and black and gun-metal are zinc die cast. You pick the finish when you order and I fit it before the collar is dispatched.
Who makes Green Dog dog collars?
I do. My name is Ed Howe, I started Green Dog at Greenwich Markets in south London and my studio is now in Oxford. I am the sole maker, so every collar is made by the same pair of hands.
Green Dog is not a brand. It is a studio. One person, one workbench, one standard. Every collar and lead is made by hand in Oxford — tested, measured, finished. You are not buying from a supply chain. You are buying directly from the person who made it.
