Find the right lead length
Every length made in this collection. Leads here run 30–488cm.

Handmade dog leads made to order in Oxfordshire, rope leads, slip leads, hands-free leads, waterproof BioThane® leads and leather leads. Every piece is cut, finished and hardware-checked by hand at my Oxford studio before dispatch.
There are two ways a rope lead gets finished here and I would rather say which is which. The wool and cotton rope leads are hand-spliced: the rope is opened up and the strands tucked back through each other, so the join carries the load through the rope itself. On the wool leads the splice is then whipped over with 1mm hemp cord. The nylon and PPM leads are not spliced. Those fibres are hand-whipped instead, which is the right finish for them. Both are done at the same bench. They are different jobs.
Filter by lead type to find what suits your dog and your walk. All leads are customisable by colour, length and hardware finish unless shown as preset.
If a lead turns up and the length is wrong for how you walk, tell me and I will sort it at no cost to you: that is the Perfect Fit Guarantee. A lead built in your own colours and length sits outside the 14-day cancellation right, while a preset edition bought as shown carries a full 30 days from receipt, and the returns page covers both.

Frequently asked questions
What types of dog lead does Green Dog make?
Clip leads, slip leads, figure of 8 leads, hands-free leads, traffic leads (short-handle close control), training leads and waterproof BioThane leads. Materials include rope, paracord, cotton, wool, leather and BioThane, and Greenwich Yarn is the whipping used on the rope rather than a material in itself. The wool and cotton rope leads are hand-spliced; the nylon and PPM leads are hand-whipped.
How do I choose between a clip lead, slip lead and hands-free lead?
Clip lead: standard everyday use with a separate collar. Slip lead: combined lead and collar for dogs that walk loose on lead. Hands-free: for runners, hikers and active walkers who want both hands free. The lead guide blog post walks through the decision in detail.
What hardware is used on Green Dog dog leads?
Your choice of fittings: solid brass, nickel-plated or zinc die cast, in finishes from polished brass through to anthracite. Solid brass is fitted as standard on the wool, cotton, Greenwich and leather leads. Every clip is chosen to suit the lead it goes on.
Are all Green Dog leads adjustable?
Hands-free leads adjust from chest-wear to waist-wear to handheld via a BioThane slider. Standard rope and BioThane leads are fixed-length but available in custom lengths on request. Slip leads adjust around the dog.
Where are Green Dog dog leads made?
Every lead is handmade in my Oxford studio. I am the sole maker, so every lead leaves the same pair of hands.
Green Dog is not a brand. It is a studio. One person, one workbench, one standard. Every collar and lead is made by hand in Oxford — tested, measured, finished. You are not buying from a supply chain. You are buying directly from the person who made it.
