Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between rope and paracord?

Rope is the larger-diameter material (10mm or 14mm) used for full-strength leads and collars. Paracord is finer (typically 6mm or 4mm), originally a parachute cord, and is used for lighter collars and braided detailing. Both are strong, the choice is about feel and visual weight.

Is paracord strong enough for larger dogs?

Yes. Paracord at 6mm has a tensile strength well above the working load of any dog, the braided construction is what gives it strength. The 10mm rope is used for larger breeds when the visual weight of the lead or collar matters as much as the strength.

What hardware finishes are available?

Polished solid brass or anthracite solid brass. Both are the full brass body, not plated. Match to your dog's coat or your own preference, both age the same way over time.

Are rope and paracord accessories waterproof?

Paracord and synthetic rope dry quickly and do not absorb significant water. They are not "waterproof" in the way BioThane is, but they do not degrade from getting wet. For a fully waterproof choice, see the BioThane collection.
