Handwoven cotton dog collars and matching rope leads, made by hand in Britain. Four colourways: burgundy, midnight blue, harvest yellow and olive green. Deep, earthy tones that come into their own on an autumn walk, when the light goes flat and everything else has gone grey.

The collars are 4mm cotton woven over a veg-tanned leather strap, black on the burgundy and midnight blue, chestnut brown on the harvest yellow and olive green. Every one carries the signature bone charm, woven in the same cotton with the ends frayed into soft pompoms. The leads are 12mm cotton rope, hand-spliced at the handle and finished with a tassel where the binding is left as a tuft. Solid brass on both, never plated.

A small bone-shaped charm woven in the same cotton as the collar, with the ends frayed into soft pompoms. It comes on every Cotton Mill collar as standard. It can stay on the collar or move onto a keyring. The leads do not carry the bone charm: they are finished with a tassel at the handle, where the binding is left as a tuft.

What rope is used for the Cotton Mill leads?

12mm twisted cotton rope, hand-spliced at the handle rather than crimped, and hand-bound. Cotton is heavier than synthetic rope of the same diameter, which gives the lead a weight and drape in the hand that synthetic rope does not replicate.

Are the collars and leads sold as a set?

Solid brass darkens into a patina with use and polishes back if you prefer it bright.

The cotton used in every Cotton Mill piece is milled and dyed in Yorkshire, using traditional processes that produce the depth of colour and durability these leads and collars are built around.

From there the material comes here, where every lead is hand spliced and every collar is hand woven. The veg-tanned cowhide straps on the collars are cut and finished by hand. Each piece of brass hardware is load-tested by the fitting's manufacturer.

Nothing here is mass produced. The Cotton Mill Collection exists because there is a better way to make a dog lead.
