Hybrid Collars
The collars. Hand-woven Brampton and Dingley wool over a 19mm BioThane® adjustable strap. Take a fixed colourway, or build your own and choose the weave, the strap colour, the keeper and the finish on every piece of metal. Six sizes from 9 to 26 inches, and a small breed Mini from 8 to 13.
The leads. The Brampton and The Swaledale are 14mm British wool rope at 130cm, hand-spliced and whipped over by hand with 1mm hemp cord, finished with a veg-tanned tab and solid brass. The Hybrid rope leads put a wool whipping and a BioThane® stopper on 10mm rope, as a clip lead, slip, figure of 8 or hands-free at 8ft. Collar and lead in the same basket takes 10% off the lead automatically.

is an accident.
Every material in The Sheep Shed was chosen carefully. British wool for warmth, texture and natural odour resistance. BioThane® for the collar strap, because it is fully waterproof and wipes clean, and a wet British winter is the normal case rather than the exception. Veg-tanned cowhide on the leads, because it ages into something better rather than wearing out. Solid brass because it holds its structure and its finish under load. None of it was chosen for convenience.
British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. It arrives here as finished rope and braid, and is then woven entirely by hand. Naturally odour resistant, breathable and warm. The weave distributes pressure evenly across the collar, kinder on the neck than a single-strand design and more comfortable on long walks. Ages beautifully.
Veg-tanned cowhide, Italian, French or British, chosen for each piece rather than to a single origin, then cut, detailed and finished by hand. On the wool leads it is the tab at the handle, and it is the part that ages, taking on a patina with every walk rather than wearing out. It is also the strap on the wool collars made for Daylesford, in brown and black.
The strap the wool is woven around on every collar sold here. Fully waterproof, wipe-clean, and it needs no conditioning. The wool itself is untreated, so it will felt a little with wear, which tightens the weave. For the dog who works, walks in mud, or simply refuses to stay clean.

The wool and leather collars,
rehomed to Daylesford.
The woven wool collars on a veg-tanned leather strap have been rehomed to Daylesford Farm, and redesigned specifically for them. Their own leatherwork, their own proportions, their own finish. The collection was approved by Lady Bamford.
It is the right home for them. Daylesford is built on British produce from British farms, and that is the same argument I have been making about British fleece since the Sheep Shed started. Most British fleece is sold for next to nothing or burned, because the global market does not value it. Putting it on a collar, on a shelf next to British food, is the clearest version of that argument I have managed so far.
So the leather went with them, and the wool carries on here on a strap that suits a wet winter better.

Made by hand.
Every single one.
Every piece in The Sheep Shed is made by hand in Britain. Not a supply chain. A standard. British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. It arrives here as finished rope and braid, and the weaving and the splicing are done by hand, one piece at a time. The hardware is solid brass on the leads and the fixed colourways, and on the custom collars the finish is yours to choose. None of it is cheap because none of it is meant to be. This is the range I set out to build from the beginning.
The collar side of the Sheep Shed. Each one is hand-woven from British wool over a BioThane® strap, in three widths: the classic for most breeds, a narrower fishtail weave for small breeds, and a wider four-row weave for sighthounds. Take a fixed colourway, or build your own and choose the strap colour, the keeper and the finish on every piece of metal.
Brampton is the charcoal wool, Dingley the ecru. Both are undyed. They are not sheep breeds or places. The colour is the colour the sheep grew. It is British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and braided in Britain. The strap is BioThane®, fully waterproof and wipe-clean, so the strap wipes clean in seconds and the wool looks after itself.
The leather-strap wool collars have been rehomed to Daylesford. They have been redesigned specifically for Daylesford and are no longer made for this site. Daylesford has them in Mini, Classic and Sighthound widths, in cream or grey undyed British wool with brass hardware, alongside an 8ft hands-free lead in 14mm hand-spliced British wool rope, cream or grey, with brass hardware. That lead has never been sold on this site. It was designed and made for Daylesford. Cream is the Dingley wool, grey is the Brampton, both undyed. The Daylesford pieces carry no tassel and no Green Dog brass disc. The range sold here carries both. More on that here.
The wool leads are the same fibre in rope form, hand-spliced rather than woven, if you want the two to match. If a collar and a lead are in the basket together, the lead drops 10% automatically. It is one or the other with a discount code, never both.
Three widths and a measurement rather than a size band should mean the fit is right first time. If it does not fit when it arrives, tell me and I will adjust or remake it. I do not charge for that work. If I got the size wrong I cover the postage both ways, and if the measurement turned out not to suit your dog the postage is yours.
