Every piece takes two to six working days to make, and that window ends at dispatch. It applies to every range. This is how long it takes to make something properly: the rope is cut to your length, hardware is chosen for your specification, and everything is finished and checked by hand.

Once dispatched, UK tracked post takes one to two working days, so three to eight working days door to door. You will receive a tracking notification the moment your order ships.

Yes. I ship to the UK, EU, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, East Asia and beyond. Free shipping thresholds are:

• UK: free from £55, tracked
• EU (26 countries): free from €115
• Romania: free from €145
• Canada: free from CA$235. Standard tracked via Royal Mail, 7 to 14 working days after dispatch
• USA: free from $150. Royal Mail International Tracked, 5 to 7 working days after dispatch
• Australia: free from A$270
• New Zealand: free from NZ$325
• Japan: free from ¥30,000
• Singapore: free from S$245

USA orders: The US withdrew duty-free de minimis for all countries in 2025, so there is no value below which a parcel arrives duty-free. Import duty is assessed by US Customs and collected on delivery. This is separate from your shipping cost and is the recipient's responsibility.

Canada orders: Canadian GST, which runs from 5% to 15% depending on province, plus a Canada Post handling fee of approximately CA$10, is collected by Canada Post on delivery. This is the recipient's responsibility.

Your order is protected by a branded kraft pouch and shipped in compostable mailers. These are plant-based, Seedling-certified, weather-resistant, and naturally compostable. Each mailer has dual adhesive strips so you can reuse it before it composts.

Yes. You will receive a tracking notification by email as soon as your order is dispatched. All UK orders are sent tracked as standard, and UK tracked delivery is free over £55. International orders are also tracked.

No. I'm not VAT registered, so no UK VAT is charged on anything I sell.

Prices are set in GBP and shown converted into the local currency of your market, and that's the currency you're charged in at checkout. Import duty or tax charged by your own country when the parcel arrives is separate from the price, and it's set out in the shipping policy.

Email hello@greendog.pet immediately with your order number and the correct address. I can update it before dispatch, but once dispatched, the carrier controls the delivery and it's much harder to redirect.

Not currently as a standard option, but if you're buying as a gift, mention it in the order notes or email me and I can make sure the packaging is extra presentable. No invoice is included inside the parcel by default.

Two, and neither needs a code.

• A collar and a lead in the same basket: 10% comes off the lead. A lead on its own does not qualify.
• A slip lead or slip collar in the basket: 20% comes off one other eligible item, once per order.

Both apply at checkout on their own. Shopify applies one discount and not two, so an automatic discount does not combine with a discount code. You get whichever is worth more.

UK tracked delivery is free over £55.

Standard (non-customised) pieces can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a full refund, unused, unworn and in original packaging. That's a size from a range I already make, so the ordinary 14-day change-of-mind right applies and I extend it to 30.

Custom and personalised pieces are cut to the measurements you give me, so they aren't covered by the 14-day change-of-mind right, because I can't resell them. I'd far rather get it right first time: read the Measuring Guide, or message me before you order and I'll talk it through.

Fit is a different thing. If it does not fit when it arrives, tell me and I will adjust or remake it. If I got the size wrong, I cover the postage both ways. If the measurement turned out not to suit your dog, the postage is yours.

If anything arrives faulty or not as described, that's on me. I'll repair, replace or refund it and cover the return postage.

Yes. Every piece comes with a twelve-month hardware guarantee, and repairs at cost after that. It is given in addition to your legal rights and does not affect them.

• Within twelve months: If the hardware fails, I repair or replace it, with parts and return postage covered.
• After twelve months: Send it back any time and I'll replace the worn parts at cost plus postage, however old it is.

Yes, for hardware issues, absolutely. For rope or material damage caused by normal wear or a dog chewing through it, repairs are possible on a case-by-case basis. Email hello@greendog.pet with a photo and I'll let you know what's possible.

Possibly. It depends on the product. Some pieces allow hardware swaps, others don't. Email me at hello@greendog.pet with your order details and what you'd like changed.

Email hello@greendog.pet immediately with a photo and your order number. If there is any defect in the build, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and I cover the return postage. Tell me which you would prefer.

Use a soft tape measure around the widest part of your dog's neck. Slide two fingers underneath: the tape should be snug but not tight. That measurement is your collar size.

The Measuring Guide has full instructions, diagrams and sizing charts for every product type: collars, sighthound collars, slip leads and more.

Sighthounds have narrow heads and wide necks, which means standard collars slip off easily. For sighthounds, measure both the narrowest part of the head and the widest part of the neck. The collar needs to be sized to sit between these two measurements.

The Measuring Guide has a dedicated sighthound section. Or message me before ordering and I'll help you get it right.

Standard length for most dogs and handlers is 120cm (4ft). This gives comfortable arm length for most adult handlers with medium to large dogs.

• 100cm: Shorter control leads, training, smaller dogs
• 120cm: Standard, most popular choice
• 150cm: Taller handlers or dogs that need more freedom
• 180cm to 200cm: Long lines for training recall

For puppies still growing, I'd recommend my adjustable collar designs. These give a range of 5cm to 8cm so there's room to grow. Once your puppy reaches their adult size, you can order a precisely fitted piece.

Every material is chosen for a specific reason, not to hit a price point, but because it performs best for your dog. Materials include:

• BioThane®: Fully waterproof, wipe-clean, and extremely hard-wearing
• Paracord: 550lb Type III. Lightweight, strong and colourful, used in most collar designs
• PPM rope: The backbone of most leads. Strong, flexible and fast-drying
• Wool: British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. Hand-woven, breathable and naturally odour resistant (Sheep Shed)
• Cotton rope: Cotton milled and dyed in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in North Yorkshire. Soft and natural (Cotton Mill)
• Leather: Veg-tanned and naturally finished. Italian, French and British cowhide, chosen for each piece rather than a single origin claim
• Hardware: Snap hooks in nickel-plated solid brass, solid brass, or zinc die cast in black or gun-metal. On the customisable ranges the buckles are plated over steel in nickel, gold, black or gun-metal. D-rings in solid nickel, solid brass, or steel with a black or gun-metal finish. Rivets in stainless steel, solid brass, or steel with a gun-metal or black finish. Wool and cotton pieces use solid brass throughout, and solid nickel is leather only. All load-tested by the fitting's manufacturer

BioThane® products are fully waterproof and the best choice for water dogs, beach walks and muddy fields. PPM rope leads are water-resistant and dry very quickly. Leather and wool products are not suitable for regular water exposure.

Most Green Dog products are vegan: BioThane, paracord, PPM rope and cotton rope products contain no animal materials. The exceptions are pieces that use natural leather straps or my British wool range.

It depends on the material, and nothing in the rope ranges goes in a washing machine. BioThane wipes clean with warm water. PPM, paracord and cotton rope are hand wash only, in cool or warm water, then air dried. Leather needs conditioning, not soaking. The wool is untreated, so it will felt if it gets wet and worked. Let mud dry completely and brush it out with a soft brush. Do not wash it.

The Sheep Shed is my most considered range: hand-woven British wool combined with veg-tanned cowhide leather and solid brass hardware. It's a design I created: a 2-row fishtail on the Minis, a 3-row on the Classics and a 4-row wider weave on the Sighthounds. All of them spread pressure evenly for comfort, with a heritage aesthetic that stands apart from anything else on the market.

Every Sheep Shed piece is made entirely by hand in Britain. No machinery, no shortcuts.

• Solid brass: Warmest look, develops a patina, won't rust. The most corrosion-resistant fitting in the range, and the standard on the wool and cotton ranges and an option on leather, so it's the one I'd point a sea swimmer at.
• Nickel-plated: Bright. Over years the plating thins at the rub points and the base metal begins to show through. That's normal wear and it doesn't affect strength.
• Black & gun-metal (zinc die cast): Strong, and it holds its shape. The finish shows wear sooner than brass and can't be polished back, so it suits a dog who's more field than beach.
• Whichever you choose, rinse and dry after saltwater. Salt is harder on plated and zinc fittings than it is on solid brass.

Yes. Because every piece is made to order, I can accommodate any neck size. If your dog is outside the standard size range shown on a product page, email me the measurement and I'll confirm whether it's achievable and quote accordingly.

Green Dog is Ed Howe. Every collar, lead and accessory on this site is made by hand in Britain, to one standard, and my name is against it. Not a supply chain. A standard.

Green Dog started as a project to make something better than what was available: gear that was genuinely handmade, honestly priced and backed by the person who sells it.

Green Dog began with a simple frustration: the dog gear available was either poorly made, overpriced for what it was, or both. Ed started making collars and leads for his own dog Boris, then for friends, then for strangers who found the work online.

The philosophy has never changed: make it properly, stand behind it, and talk to the person who bought it like a human being.

The most sustainable product is one that lasts. Green Dog pieces are made to be repaired rather than replaced, which means less waste and less landfill. My packaging is compostable. Materials are named by origin where there is an origin worth naming, and nothing is claimed where there is not. And the made-to-order model means nothing is manufactured speculatively and left unsold.

It's not a perfect model, and no business is, but longevity and quality are the foundation of everything I make.

Life Like Charlie is a collaboration with Charlie from the UK dog community, inspired by his dogs Nala and Monkey. Every piece in the collection is designed together and 20% of profit goes directly to Hope for Podencos, the charity Charlie chose because of his own rescued Podencos.

It's genuine, not a marketing exercise. Every purchase directly funds rescue and rehoming of Podencos dogs in Spain and Portugal.
