A figure of 8 lead — sometimes written figure of eight — loops over the nose and behind the ears at the same time, so any signal is shared across two points instead of one. For a dog that pulls, that usually means less effort and clearer communication, which is why trainers reach for one when a flat collar and a standard lead have stopped working.

Every lead here is made to order in my Oxford studio and can be built as a figure of 8. Most also work as a standard slip lead or a clip lead, so you are not committing to one style — you choose the configuration when you order, along with the rope colour, the binding and the fittings you want.

The 6mm rope is the lighter option and suits terriers through to spaniels. The 10mm is the one to pick for a bigger dog or a stronger puller. Lead times are 2 to 6 working days, because nothing here is sitting on a shelf.
