What is BioThane?

BioThane is a polyester webbing coated in polyurethane. The polyester core gives the strength of a webbing lead, the polyurethane coating makes it fully waterproof, wipe-clean and odour-resistant. It does not absorb water, mud or smell.

Are BioThane dog collars actually waterproof?

Yes, in the full sense. The collar can be submerged, swum in, washed under a tap and left wet without damage. Most "water-resistant" collars are fabric with a coating that fails after a few seasons, BioThane is plastic-coated through the core.

Does a BioThane collar smell after swimming?

No. The non-porous coating means there is nothing for bacteria to grow on. A wipe with a damp cloth returns it to like-new. This is the main reason owners of swimming dogs switch to BioThane.

Is BioThane suitable for dogs with sensitive skin?

BioThane is hypoallergenic and contains no animal product. It is one of the better choices for dogs that react to leather treatments, dyed fabric or rough-woven materials. The smooth surface does not catch or pull at coats.

Are Green Dog BioThane collars made to order?

Yes. Every BioThane collar and lead is cut, riveted and stitched after you order, with your chosen colour, hardware and exact size. Lead time is 2 to 6 working days.
