Green Dog · Oxford Studio

Not a brand.
A person.

Every collar, lead and accessory on this site was made by one person, by hand, in a small studio in Oxford. This is why that matters.

Every brand will tell you they care. Green Dog was built on a different kind of honesty. One workbench. One standard. One person answerable to you. Not a supply chain. Not a warehouse. Not a team of three following a brand guide. Just Ed — and whatever your dog needs.

The honest answer

Five reasons
dogs come back
again and again

These aren't marketing claims. They're the things customers tell me when they order a second piece, or when they send photos of their dog six months later still wearing the same collar. Click each to read more.

01
Craft Every piece is made by hand, for you
+

Nothing at Green Dog is pre-made. When you place an order, I begin your piece. The rope is cut to your length. The hardware is chosen for your colour selection. The binding is worked by hand. It takes 2–6 days because that's how long it takes to make something properly.

This means no two pieces are truly identical — yours is yours. It also means if something isn't right, I made it and I'll fix it. There's no manufacturer to blame, no ticket system to navigate. You talk to the person who built it.

02
Materials Materials chosen for your dog, not for margin
+

Climbing rope, British wool, British Milled dyed Cotton, BioThane, recycled paracord, premium natural leather — everything I use is sourced from long-standing UK suppliers where possible. I test every material myself, on my own dogs, before it goes into a product.

Solid brass, Nickel plated solid brass, Stainless Steel, Zinc die cast hardware is load-tested before every dispatch. Not because I'm required to — because a collar that fails when a dog pulls is not acceptable. The hardware I use will outlast the piece. That's the standard I hold myself to.

03
Fit If it doesn't fit, I'll remake it
+

Size exchange is available on all custom orders, no questions asked. I offer a full measuring guide and I'm always available to help before you order. If you're unsure, message me — I'd rather spend five minutes helping you get the right size than have you order the wrong one.

When David Milligan's whippet collar didn't fit, I swapped it. That's not a policy — it's just what you do when you've made something for someone's dog.

04
Service You talk to the maker, not a support team
+

Every message goes to Ed. I reply personally, usually within a few hours. If you're not sure which lead to choose, I'll help you choose. If you want to see colour combinations before you order, I can photograph them. If something arrives and it's not right, I'll sort it immediately.

I can't send colour photos or tell you what rope looks like in real life if you go to Amazon. I can, and I will. That's the difference.

05
Value The last collar you'll need to buy
+

Green Dog isn't cheap. It shouldn't be. But the cost per year of ownership of a Green Dog piece — compared to replacing a cheap collar twice a year — usually means we're the better value option, not the expensive one.

Emily put it best: "I am very glad I paid the extra over Amazon — a better item by far." The hardware is backed for life. Buy once. Use forever. That's the intention behind every piece I make.

Green Dog materials
The materials

Nothing cheap.
Nothing wasted.

Every material I use is chosen for a reason — not to hit a price point, but because it performs best for your dog. I source from UK suppliers I know personally where possible. I test everything before it goes into a product. And if a material isn't good enough, it doesn't get used.

My promise to you

Three things I commit to
every single time

It will be made properly

Every piece leaves my studio only when I'm satisfied with it. If it doesn't meet my standard, I start again. This isn't a policy — it's a personal line I don't cross.

I will reply quickly

You're not raising a ticket. You're messaging the person who will make your piece. I reply within hours. I'm happy to help, and I don't rush you out of the conversation.

I will make it right

If something isn't right — size, hardware, colour, anything — I'll fix it. Hardware fails? Replaced. Wrong size? Remade. Not what you imagined? Tell me and we'll sort it together.
