Hybrid Collars & Wool Leads
The collars. Hand-woven Brampton and Dingley wool over a 19mm BioThane® adjustable strap. Take a fixed colourway, or build your own and choose the weave, the strap colour, the keeper and the finish on every piece of metal. Six sizes from 9 to 26 inches, and a small breed Mini from 8 to 13.
The leads. The Swaledale in cream and the Brampton in grey, 14mm British wool rope at 130cm, hand-spliced and whipped over by hand with 1mm hemp cord, finished with a veg-tanned tab and solid brass. The Hybrid rope leads put a wool whipping and a BioThane® stopper on 10mm rope, as a clip lead, slip, figure of 8 or hands-free at 8ft. Collar and lead in the same basket takes 10% off the lead automatically.

is an accident.
Every material in The Sheep Shed was chosen carefully. British wool for warmth, texture and natural odour resistance. BioThane® for the collar strap, because it is fully waterproof and wipes clean, and a wet British winter is the normal case rather than the exception. Veg-tanned cowhide on the leads, because it ages into something better rather than wearing out. Solid brass because it holds its structure and its finish under load. None of it was chosen for convenience.
British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. It arrives here as finished rope and braid, and is then woven entirely by hand. Naturally odour resistant, breathable and warm. The weave distributes pressure evenly across the collar, kinder on the neck than a single-strand design and more comfortable on long walks. Ages beautifully.
Veg-tanned cowhide, Italian, French or British, chosen for each piece rather than to a single origin, then cut, detailed and finished by hand. On the wool leads it is the tab at the handle, and it is the part that ages, taking on a patina with every walk rather than wearing out. It is also the strap on the wool collars made for Daylesford, in brown and black.
The strap the wool is woven around on every collar sold here. Fully waterproof, wipe-clean, and it needs no conditioning. The wool itself is untreated, so it will felt a little with wear, which tightens the weave. For the dog who works, walks in mud, or simply refuses to stay clean.

A British wool collection,
made for Daylesford.
Daylesford has farmed organically in the Cotswolds since 1977, works with the Soil Association, and has been a B Corp since 2023. They keep their own flock and they already make things from British wool, so this was never a case of persuading anybody that the fibre was worth the trouble. They were there first, and at a scale I am not.
The collection was designed by the Daylesford home team and me, and signed off by Lady Bamford. It is not the retail range moved onto their shelf. The colourways, the leatherwork and the proportions were drawn for Daylesford, and the pieces are made for Daylesford only.
British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire and braided in Britain. Woven by hand in a garden studio in Oxford over veg-tanned leather, with brass hardware. Cream and grey, both undyed, because that is the colour the sheep grew.

Made by hand.
Every single one.
Every piece in The Sheep Shed is made by hand in Britain. Not a supply chain. A standard. British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. It arrives here as finished rope and braid, and the weaving and the splicing are done by hand, one piece at a time. The hardware is solid brass on the leads and the fixed colourways, and on the custom collars the finish is yours to choose. None of it is cheap because none of it is meant to be. This is the range I set out to build from the beginning.
British wool dog collars and leads, made by hand in Britain. The collars are woven and sit on a waterproof BioThane® strap. The leads are hand-spliced from 14mm wool rope, whipped over with 1mm hemp cord and left with a tassel at the handle. Wool is soft, odour-resistant and keeps some of its natural lanolin, so there is no plastic coating and no synthetic chemistry against your dog's neck.
Two undyed wools. Brampton is the charcoal grey, Dingley the ecru. The colour is the colour the sheep grew. British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain. In store at Daylesford. They have been rehomed to Daylesford Farm and redesigned specifically for them, in Mini, Classic and Sighthound widths. Cream is the Dingley wool with brown leather, grey is the Brampton with black, both undyed, with brass hardware. More on the collaboration.
How do I choose a wool collar size?
The Classic uses a three-row weave, 34mm of wool over a 19mm strap, and suits most breeds. The Sighthound uses a four-row 43mm weave for whippets, lurchers, greyhounds and Italian greyhounds. The Mini uses a two-row fishtail weave, roughly 20mm of wool over a 16mm strap, for small breeds. Do not add anything to your measurement: each size is a range and it fits that whole range, so pick the range your measurement sits inside.
Why British wool specifically?
British wool is one of the most under-used natural fibres in the UK. Most fleeces are sold for next to nothing or burned because the global market does not value them. Using British wool for dog collars is a small piece of a bigger argument for keeping the fleece market alive. I don't buy fleece: I buy finished wool rope and braid. It is British wool, graded and spun in Yorkshire, and laid into rope in Britain.
