Shipping policy

Every Green Dog piece is handmade to order in my Oxford studio. I aim to get your order from my workbench to your doorstep as quickly as possible.

Crafting & Dispatch

Please allow 2–6 working days for your piece to be crafted before dispatch. Certain preset and batch-made pieces (Sheep Shed, Cotton Mill) may dispatch sooner — typically 1–2 working days.

You will receive a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships.

Everything ships with Royal Mail. The delivery times below are Royal Mail's published aims, not guarantees — once a parcel leaves my studio it is in their hands.

What the postage covers

I charge what Royal Mail charges me for the weight and the destination, plus £1.50 for packaging and labels, rounded to a sensible figure. I don't make money on postage and I try not to lose it either. Where a country genuinely costs more to reach — Romania, New Zealand, Singapore — it is priced on its own rather than hidden in a regional average that everyone else subsidises. Above each threshold I cover the postage myself.

European Union

Duties & taxes. The EU's €150 duty relief ended on 1 July 2026. A flat customs duty of €3 per item now applies to consumer parcels valued under €150 entering the EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2026/382. It applies regardless of where the goods were made, so British origin does not avoid it, and it is not refunded if you return the item. Import VAT is charged by your own country as well. The carrier collects both from you on delivery — I do not collect them at checkout.

A collar and a lead in the same parcel may count as two items rather than one, so €6 rather than €3.

Italy adds a national customs administration fee of €2 per consignment.

Romania

Romania costs materially more to reach than the rest of the EU, which is why it is priced on its own. As well as the €3 EU flat duty, Romania applies a national handling charge of RON 25 on parcels under €150.

United States

Shipped via Royal Mail International Tracked. Delivery aim 5–7 working days after dispatch.

Duties & taxes. The United States withdrew duty-free de minimis treatment for all countries in 2025, so there is no longer a value below which a parcel arrives duty-free. US Customs assesses the import duty on the declared value and the carrier collects it from you on delivery. I do not collect it at checkout, and I cannot tell you the exact figure in advance — it depends on the classification applied at the border.

Canada

Delivered by Canada Post. Delivery aim 7–14 working days after dispatch.

Duties & taxes. Canada charges GST at 5% on import, or HST up to 15% depending on your province, and the carrier adds a handling fee of about CA$10. Both are collected from you on delivery.

For Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Europe (Non-EU), Europe — Extended and Rest of World, your own country charges its import duty, VAT or GST and the carrier may add a handling fee. They are collected from you on delivery.

Türkiye introduced new customs rules for leather goods in October 2025 requiring full detailed declarations, which can add both delay and cost at the border.

No Hidden Fees

I don't collect duties at checkout, so nothing on this site quietly bundles them into the price. What you pay me is the piece plus the postage shown. What your country charges to let it in is theirs, collected on delivery, and I have set it out above for every destination I ship to so it isn't a surprise on your doorstep.

Countries I No Longer Ship To

Monaco, Svalbard & Jan Mayen, Ukraine and Moldova. Royal Mail either offers no tracked service to these destinations or has not updated its guidance in over a year, and I won't take money for a made-to-order piece I can't see safely delivered.

Returning an International Order

Import duties and handling fees you have already paid are not refundable by me — they were collected by your country, not by Green Dog, and the EU's €3 flat duty is expressly non-refundable. If a parcel is refused on delivery or returned unclaimed, the outbound cost, the return carriage and any charges already incurred are deducted from the refund. Your cancellation and faulty-goods rights are unaffected and are set out in the refund policy.
